The Lodges at Cresthaven – Lake George

Hyatus Downtown at Yale – New Haven

New Haven is a wonderful combination of coastal town with nearby beaches, college city centered around Yale, and historical town dating back to the 17th century. 

No matter how eclectic the tastes of your family, there is truly something for everyone: explore the great outdoors on the many biking, running, or hiking trails. Cool down from a nice run in a kayak, jet ski or on a boat tour of the thimble islands. Not a big boater? Get near to the ocean anyway on one of the many beaches surrounding New Haven. Or what if you have an older family looking to grab a drink and experience the culture, checkout college street music hall, or have a drink and a smaller music show at Space Ballroom. 

With everything mentioned there is still the best part – Pizza. Or as the locals like to say Apizza! Try one of the best rated Pizzas in the United States at the delicious Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana or join the debate by trying their equal (near equal?) Modern Apizza or Sally’s Apizza.

After this kind of incredible day you will need a cozy and beautiful place to crash and it just so happens Hyatus has recently opened some lovely apartments in downtown New Haven. Okay so you knew this was coming but wait, trust me, Hyatus Downtown at Yale has received rave reviews from Airbnb, Expedia, and Booking.com guests who loved the luxury building amenities, incredible service, cozy beds, chic designs and outstanding location in the center of downtown New Haven. Instead of putting up the family in multiple rooms at an expensive hotel. (If you insist on a hotel I do recommend The Blake Hotel as the best of the non-apart-hotel options.)

Hudson, New York is only a two hour drive from Manhattan and really has everything you need for the perfect quiet, yet also exciting, weekend adventure with the family. Walk down Warren St. and enjoy beautifully constructed early 20th century buildings perfectly restored to their original splendor. Try delicious Vietnamese cuisine at the lovely Hudson Food Studio. Show the kids that there is more to life than Tik Tok at New York’s oldest theater in the incredible Hudson Opera House. You can also pick up some toys for the kids and gifts for friends back home at The Spotty Dogs Books and Ale.

After a long and fun-filled day with the family there will be nothing like getting a good nights rest in the family friendly and cozy Rivertown Lodge. Rivertown has the coziest of lobbies with two wood-burning fireplaces. A lovely gift-shop. Free bikes for exploring the city are available right outside the hotel and if you are feeling exhausted from all the travelling, drip coffee if free for all guests!
